HEALTHY OUTCOMES PARTNERSHIP (HOP) |
|
The Healthy Outcomes Partnership, an initiative of the Somerset Hills YMCA, is a coalition of human service agencies, organizations and individuals concerned with public and mental health, youth and family development, adolescent medicine, community education and a variety of related areas of expertise. The Healthy Outcomes Partnership, or HOP, was formed to address common barriers to healthy relationships and to help people connect with the resources they need to overcome these problems.
The Healthy Outcomes Partnership initiative officially launched in June 2009 with a community forum titled "Who Pulled the Rug Out? A Community Conversation About Economic Uncertainty." The event brought together approximately 100 residents to discuss the financial and emotional impact of the economic downturn on individuals in our community. Michael Aron, talk show host and senior political correspondent for NJN, served as moderator for the evening. A global perspective on the economy was provided by Daryl G. Brewster, head of Brookside Management, LLC, Mendham, NJ, and the former CEO of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. He was joined by Peter L. Roselle, a certified financial planner, local businessman (Port City Java) and pastor, King of Kings Worship Center, Basking Ridge, NJ, and Leslie Becker-Phelps, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Basking Ridge and on staff at the Somerset Medical Center. After the panel presentations, community members were invited to share their experiences and talk about how they have been affected by the recession and how they are coping in these turbulent times. The meeting incited provocative conversation and resulted in a unanimous decision to continue the program.
