The YMCA is America's favorite swimming instructor and has remained so for over 120 years.
The Somerset Hills YMCA believes every individual should have the opportunity to learn to swim for reasons of safety, fitness, building a positive self image and developing a lifelong interest in aquatics. It is never too late to learn a new skill or perfect your technique. We are committed to offering the adults in our YMCA Adult Swim Lessons, Water Exercise and Masters Swimming programs a quality experience that teaches swimming and water safety skills in a student-centered, caring atmosphere. Our swim lessons for adults are tailored to a variety of ability levels. Private lessons are also available. All our swim instruction and stroke technique programs are designed to teach skills quickly and effectively with safety as a high priority.

Water Exercise
For adults of all ages and abilities looking for fun and fitness in a low impact environment. Classes are offered in the daytime and on some evenings as well as “on your own” opportunities to water walk and do your own workout routine. Join us in the Engelhard Pool for “Fridays With Frank” at 11 am to exercise on your own with our water aerobics equipment and enjoy the sounds of Frank Sinatra and friends.
Senior Splash
Open time for lap swimming and water walking Monday – Friday from 11 am to 3:30 p.m. (ends at 2:30 pm November 15 – February 15) in the Engelhard Pool. The water in this pool is kept between 83 – 84 degrees for those who are more comfortable in a warmer water environment.
AFYAP (Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program) and WET (Water Exercise Together)
AFYAP is a class consisting of a series of gentle activities in the pool open to anyone with arthritis or similar rheumatic diseases. W.E.T. is gentle aerobics, flexibility and light strength training in a warm, therapeutic pool. It is not necessary to know how to swim for either class. Classes meet at Somerset Hills YMCA Mt. Airy Facility (AFYAP) and Fellowship Village Pool (W.E.T.). Free to members and a fee for non-members. Pre-registration is necessary. Click here for Class days and times.
Whatever your aquatic interest, the YMCA provides programs that build a healthier and safer community. Our Ohaus Aquatic Center has three indoor pools of varying water temperatures geared toward every interest – lap swimming, water exercise and instruction and recreational swimming with slides and a children’s water play area.
