Lifeguard Training, YMCA Swim Instructor ARC Water Safety Instructor Certifications and Job Opportunities The Somerset Hills YMCA will hold new Lifeguard Recruitment and Training Programs in 2011. Attendance for all classes is mandatory for completion of the program. Registration for these training programs is going on now through the Aquatics Department. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a love of water and a desire to ensure the safety of swimmers in the community. Participants will earn their Lifeguard Certification and may apply to become a member of the Somerset Hills YMCA Aquatics Team. Click here for a list of current job openings. To enroll in the Lifeguarding course, you must be able to demonstrate the following Precourse Skills on the first day of Lifeguarding course. Winter 2011-2012 Lifeguard Trainings: Regular Lifeguard Training Dates: (Maximum of 10 spots in each class) Feb 11, 12, 18 & 19       8am-4pm April 2, 3, 4, & 5            9am-5pm April 10, 11, 12 & 13      9am-5pm May 5, 6, 12 & 13          8am-4pm June 2, 3, 5, 6 & 7         8am-6pm one wknd & 5p-9p wkdy July 28, 29, Aug 4 & 5    8a-4p     Details:    All participants must attend all 4 days of the course in order to be eligible for certification. Minimum age: 15 years by last day of class in date range. All participants must pass a pretest which consists of swimming a total of 300 yards (12 lengths of the pool) continuously and retrieving a 10lbs object from a minimum of 7 feet of water and swimming with it on their back for 20 yards.
