America on the Move Week is an initiative that allows the YMCA to build upon the work they do every day to inspire communities, families, and individuals to make small changes in their every day activities that aspire to big changes in their health.
Each year, we encourage the community to participate during this week to help the Y spread awareness about the need to make small lifestyle changes in order to achieve healthier lifestyles in spirit, mind and body. This year, during the week of September 20-25, activities organized by the YMCA will place special focus on families to make small, sustained changes. Keep your eye out for more information on the fun activities planned for that week and also for special promotions to help you and your family get out and about! The week will be capped off with Strong Dogs Day on Saturday, September 25th from 9.00am - 1.30pm where community vendors, groomers, kennel owners, obedience trainers and featured speakers will participate in a backyard event followed by a community walk for all two-legged and four-legged friends!
We’ve all heard the adage, ’Something is better than nothing’, and that really is the idea behind America On The Move Week. The purpose of this week of activities is to engage and inspire you to make small changes in your every day activities that aspire to big changes in your health. The Somerset Hills YMCA will focus on helping you to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle by finding ways for you to increase play, move more, eat more healthily and spend that all important family time together.
