The YMCA strengthens more than muscles!
At the Y, you and your family can swim, exercise, lift weights and enjoy dozens of other exciting physical activities. Our facilities have even more to offer, including child care, youth sports and teen leadership programs, to name a few. Our programs are designed to bring siblings closer together, build new relationships, strengthen family bonds and lead to a healthier lifestyle.
Your membership includes access to both the Mount Airy Road and Riverwalk facilities in Basking Ridge.
Features of the Mt. Airy Road facility (MA) include:
- Use of the Wellness Center, a 9,000-square-foot state-of-the-art physical fitness center with free weights, Technogym strength equipment, treadmills, Stairmasters, upright and recumbent bikes, and Precor ellipticals and cross-trainers
- An aerobics room with cushioned wood floor
- Free fitness and water exercise classes
- Free SpinningTM programs in designated spinning room
- Access to our adventure-based program and climbing wall
- 3 pools including: six-lane, 25-yard indoor pool and a recreational pool featuring two waterslides
- New locker rooms, including a family/handicap locker room
- Free fitness orientation
- Full-size gymnasium for open basketball and family activities
- More than 200 programs and classes each session at member rates
- Special activities for active older adults
- Personal training sessions with certified staff
- Nutrition Counseling
- Expanded drop-off babysitting (Kidz Korner)
Features of the Riverwalk facility (RW) include:
- Use of the 3,500 square foot wellness center with free weights, strength equipment, treadmills, steppers, Treadclimbers, Arc Trainers, Expresso Bikes, upright and recumbent bikes, Precor ellipticals and cross trainers.
- Aerobics room offering classes such as yogalates, mat pilates, sculpt, strength and conditioning, special senior wellness classes.
- Mind Body Studio offering classes such as Yoga, Tai Chi and Meditation.
- Yoga classes offered are from ages 3-103 and varying levels of experience from basics to power yoga including classes focused soley on kids, teens and athletes.

- ACTIVATE YOU wellness program. A personalized fitness program for all members. For 12 weeks members are coached to meet their fitness goals.
- Drop-off babysitting (Kidz Korner)
Features of our partnership with Camp Speers-Eljabar (CSE) include:
- Easy access (just 75 minutes away from the Somerset Hills community), the camp sits on over 1,000 forested acres surrounding a private 42-acre lake, providing an unspoiled natural environment to explore and enjoy.
- One and two week sleep away camp sessions for children in grades 3 – 7, and to youth in grades 8 – 11.
- Specialty interest groups and family getaways available throughout the year.
- Free Sunday Fundays for members of our community to get to know the camp and to benefit from a wide selection of season-appropriate activities each Sunday from January 11th until June 6th.
Try the Y Pass
After touring the Somerset Hills YMCA, any person wishing to use the Somerset Hills YMCA on a trial basis may obtain a special Try the Y pass at the time of their tour. With the Try the Y pass, all activities available to members may be tried.
Be our Guest! Guest policy
Members may bring one guest per visit for up to 5 free visits using their membership card. After 5 guest visits (per membership unit), a member may bring an adult guest for a fee of $20; members 17 years old and younger do not have guest privileges. Those with Youth Memberships may bring a chaperone to participate in activities with them 3 times at no charge. After 3 chaperone visits, there is a $20 fee. We invite guests to participate in our many activities at no charge, such as open gym; lane, family or open swim; Wellness Center (before using, complete an informed consent form at the Member Service Desk) and much more!
For Safety reasons, the Y's guest policy is as follows:
- Use of the wellness center as a guest requires a complete waiver of liability.
- Five visitor passes are allowed per year, per membership unit.
- A guest is one individual.
- Guests without an accompanying member cannot be admitted.
AWAY (Always Welcome at the Y):
Out-of-state full privilege YMCA members will be admitted at no charge. In-state full privilege YMCA members (outside a 50-mile radius of the Somerset Hills YMCA) will be admitted at no charge. In-state full privilege YMCA members within a 50-mile radius of the Somerset Hills YMCA will be admitted for a $10 fee at Mt. Airy Rd facility and a $5 fee at Riverwalk. After one month, all out-of-town YMCA members must pay $5 per visit. The wellness center may be used after the completion of an informed consent form which is available at the Welcome Center.
